Thamer Mohammed Al-Harbi has been the president of Microsoft Arabia since 2018. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s operations in the Kingdom.
Al-Harbi obtained a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering in 2002 at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He completed his postgraduate studies at IESE Business School, Barcelona and the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan.
He began his career in 2002 at the Integrated Computer Systems, a Saudi IT firm, as account manager. A year later, he joined Saudi Business Machines as banking sales leader. In 2007, he joined Temenos, which provides software to financial institutions. During his six-year tenure at the company, Al-Harbi worked as regional sales manager for the Gulf Cooperation Council region and later as the Middle East regional manager.
He joined Accenture as sales director for the Middle East in 2013 before moving to Oracle after one year. Al-Harbi spent four years with Oracle where he served as country managing director and regional vice president.
In 2018, he was named as the president of Microsoft Arabia.
Last week, he participated in a virtual discussion about working remotely. The event was organized by the Ministry of Finance. Al-Harbi said the daily work practices are rapidly evolving with the introduction of remote working platforms. He said due to advancements in technology, new workflow concepts are emerging.
